报告题目:Technical Solutions to Enable a High Renewable Penetrated Future Grid

报告时间:2018127日(周五)下午4:00

报告地点:东南大学四牌楼校区中山院405

报告内容:

With the increasing penetration level of renewable energy driven by government policy and technology development of power electronics, the conventional power system has encountered an unprecedented challenge. This talk will exclusively focus on the mitigation of huge intermittence impact of renewable energy on the operational planning and stability control of future power grids. Two feasible technical solutions and operational strategies will be designed and provided for system operator to facilitate the stability improvement and frequency regulation of transmission and distribution networks integrated with massive renewables.

报告嘉宾:

Siqi Bu received the Ph.D. degree from the electric power and energy research cluster, The Queen’s University of Belfast, Belfast, U.K., in 2012, where he continued his postdoctoral research work before entering industry. Subsequently, he joined National Grid UK as a Power System Engineer and then became an experienced UK National Transmission System Planner and Operator. He is an Assistant Professor with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and also a Chartered Engineer with UK Royal Engineering Council, London, U.K.. He is a senior member of IEEE. He serves as a committee member of IET Hong Kong Power and Energy Section and IET Power Systems and Equipment Network, a mentor of Hong Kong 1+1 Science Tip-top Talent Scheme, an advisor of IET Hong Kong Student Section, an external examiner of Hong Kong Vocational Training Council, and was a committee member of IET Berkshire local network. He has been the organizing committee member and session chair of many international conferences and research seminars. His research areas include power system modeling, stability analysis and control, power system planning and operation, grid integration of onshore/offshore wind power generation, VSC/LCC-HVDC system and FACTS/ESS/VSG technology utilization and plug-in electric vehicle application. He is a Guest Editor of IET Renewable Power Generation and an appointed reviewer for over 25 peer-reviewed SCI journals and book publishers. He has received various prizes due to excellent performances and outstanding contributions in operational and commissioning projects during the employment with National Grid UK. He is also the recipient of Best Paper Awards from IET conferences, and Outstanding Reviewer Awards from IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Renewable Energy and International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems respectively.
